Things Fall Apart
How can authors use fiction to make statements about culture?
How might communities be stretched or altered when encountering new ideas or members?
In addition to the questions above, many of the questions and topics we have explored this semester relate well to the novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. "Why study literature?" "What does good writing look like?" "What is culture?" You will want to keep these questions at the front of your thoughts while studying the novel.
Much of our work will come from the SpringBoard curriculum we have been trying out this year. Additionally, I have included a few links to helpful resources below:
A study guide to Things Fall Apart
"The Second Coming," a poem by W. B. Yeats
Images of village life, including a house, the village square, masks, ceremonies, kola, and missions
